Abstract

The article shows the relationship between imagination and building the European imperial capitalist economy in the context of colonialismcolonial settings on the one side and the ideas of the basic opposition between modernity and modernism (West) and the world of premodernity (Other) on the other. The North Atlantic geographical imagination connects here with a the geography of management in a particular way. Colonies are treated as demanding inclusion to the system of West modernity. Slavery, theories of race and various concepts of time supports support both the geography of the imagination and geography management. One of the effects is the process of silencing the past, symbolized in the text by the revolution of slaves in Haiti. Today's anthropology helps to restore the memory of these phenomena in the context of the geography of the global neoliberal management.
