O procesach dysolucji w kulturze

Andrzej P. Kowalski

Abstract

Anna Pałubicka has recently analysed the phenomenon of dissolution in culture, using some proposals drawn from the works of Jerzy Mazurkiewicz,. In psychology, dissolution usually means to descend from higher structures of reflection to pre- logic visual (pictorial) experience. There are two types of dissolution: the first one concerns the regress to the elementary cultural patterns; the second – the transition from a reflective to a participatory and sensational way of experience. This distinction enables to analyse the state of the culture in the past as well as at present. For instance, regardless of their revolutionary character, the neolithic cultures, failed to resist the dissolution processes. Despite technological innovations, these cultures did not generate a reflective way of thinking or a philosophical attitude. Nowadays, the participants of the mass culture also reduce the cultural pattern to the performative consumption of provisional values. This is a symptom of a cultural dissolution.
